Description

Hello,

I installing VSTrac for integrate with my trac system and I can't login. If I grant XMLRPC permission to anonimous its work.

I think that the problem is that I use digest authentication and tracd. If I use eclipse and Mylyn its work. There any solution?

Trac version: 0.11b3 VSTrac version: 1.0.3040.42384

Thanks

As far as I understand you _should_ have XMLRPC persmissions given to Anonymous user. This is a security feature and is working as it should.

I also have Mylyn talking to Trac via XML_RPC. Permission required is authenticated.

I would be concerned that granting XML_RPC to anonymous would allow anyone to connect to the server without authenticating, which isn't always dersirable (certainly not in my case).

Well I think it depends on what you would like to do. There are certainly reasons why you might want to give XML_RPC to anonymous - you still need to also give permissions to each section, so all it allows is for an anoymous user to connect via XML_RPC.

It was probably not clear what I meant above, but there are cases, and in the original comment it is not clear what the problem is exactly.

Are you also having a similar problem with VSTrac?

Oh, OK. I think I'd personally prefer it if I didn't have to grant this, but it sounds like this is an enhancement request, rather than a defect. I've updated the properties on this ticket to reflect this (hope that isn't presumptuous of me!).

Well, I just tried to get it installed, but I'm having trouble (see #40), so I'm afraid I can't give you any further feedback at this point.

Hello, I writed the ticket, thanks for the responses. Sorry for my bad english. I try to explain better:

- I have a trac 0.11b3 with digest authentication

- If I configure VSTrac for login to the trac server with username and password VSTrac can't login to the trac server.

- If I grant XMLRPC permission to anonymous user VSTrac can connect but I need to grant permission for view tickets, write wiki etc to anonymous user and this is not the configuration that we need it.

- With eclipse and Mylyn I can login with username and password without problems and I don't need to grant XMLRPC permission to anonymous user.

- I read http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/XmlRpcPlugin "Problems with Digest HTTP authentication" and I think that this is the problem but... How Mylyn can connect with the same configuration?

Ok, I'll try and figure this one out asap - only thing is I'm a bit pressed for time - and will be for the next 3-4 weeks. I will try and put logging into the app as soon as possible though so we can at least see exactly what the errors are...

  • keywords set to Digest HTTP Authentication.

One thing to note here: the default option in Mylyn is to connect through either XMLRPC or web. It's possible that Mylyn was connecting through it's web adapter instead?

Hello,

Mylyn is connected with XML-RPC Plugin(Rev 1950) and use authentication, User ID & Password. No others settings in the configuration of the Task Repository.

Thanks.
